Every name comes from a real dog licence. We combined 328,004 dogs licensed in New York City between 2014 and 2025 with 34,376 dogs licensed in Seattle, counting each dog once. The generator favours popular names but still surfaces rarer ones, and every result shows how many real dogs share it.
Choose Unique names for names only a handful of owners chose, or a colour or style for our themed lists. Pick a breed to see names owners of that breed actually use.
