Unlike our other fantasy generators, the Viking name generator uses real Old Norse first names that are recorded in sagas and on rune stones, such as Ragnar, Sigrid, Ivar and Astrid. Vikings did not have fixed surnames. Instead they used their father's name plus -son (son) or -dottir (daughter), so Erik's son Leif was Leif Eriksson. The generator follows that rule for every name.
